Ohio Foodshed is a project of Rural Action Sustainable Agriculture, which is a program of Rural Action. Our mission is to increase local food production in Appalachian Ohio. We are Coordinator Tom Redfern, Local Foods Specialist Bob Fedyski, Megan Conkle, Katelyn Eilbeck, and Karam Sheban.

This free online resource provides comprehensive directories of regional food producers and the local businesses that support them so that consumers can make an informed decision about where they buy their food. We provide resources to farmers and businesses to increase capacity and boost sales by allowing them to connect with buyers and one another.

What is a Foodshed?
A “foodshed” refers to all of the food that is produced and consumed in a specific geographic location. When we define this area, we can see how the decisions we make about food will impact our region. This allows consumers to take an active role in building a thriving and vibrant local community.
